The Theme Behind Romans 15:5.
WHAT’S ROMANS 15:5 ?

The name of our website – ROMANS155.com, came from a verse found in the letter to the Romans. Romans 15:5 reads, “May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus.”

WHAT’S ROMANS 15:5 ALL ABOUT ?

Let’s take a look at Romans 15:5: “May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, … .” Here we see it is God who gives!

1 – It is God who gives Endurance;
2 – It is God who gives Encouragement;
3 – It is God who gives Unity.

… WHAT ENCOURAGEMENT?

This encouragement is described in 15:4, “For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope, namely, that through the scriptures we might have endurance and encouragement, and hope.” Interestingly enough, encouragement is attributed to the Scriptures in verse 4 and then it is attributed to God in verse 5. This can only mean that God speaks and encourages the church through the Scriptures.

… WHY UNITY?
Unity occurs when two parties see each other as targets of kindness and love. In chapters 14 and 15, the theme was to build up the members of the church and to help each member live in unity with one another. Notice that this unity is found in following Jesus (15:5). We can only have true unity in the church when we follow Christ together. In other words, Christian unity has to do with unity in Christ.

The result of our unity is God’s Glory. After all, Romans 15:6 says, “so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

So that’s it!

… As we endure and are encouraged by God through the scriptures, we are united together as we follow Christ Jesus. That is our goal here at ROMANS155.com – to help you and your church to be encouraged by the Word of God, so that you might have hope, through endurance and encouragement to grow spiritually with us and other Christians.

May God give us Endurance, Encouragement, and Unity!

The Romans155 Team.
